Check Mate is a story about a young man engulfed into the dangers of illegal street culture. The main character Severe is arrested in his height of the NYC drug trade. He finds himself on Rikers Island fighting for his freedom where he meets a old man that teaches him how to play Chess and a thorough history course of the 1960's social revolution. When he is released he uses the strategies of Chess to seize control over the drug trade in all 5 boroughs of NYC. He calls a meeting with all the representatives of each borough to stop all drug dealing in the city, and launch community development for the poverty stricken neighborhoods that they controlled. Soon drugs are put back into the community by dirty Federal Agents and a war is waged against the NYPD. Severe is trapped between running away with the love of his life Unique who is the female version of himself, or staying for a battle to the death with police and aspiring drug lords.
